ABOUT
Background I’ve
been a part-time photographer as long as I can remember and have had a
variety of professions before pursuing photography full time. I learned
to love photography from many childhood car vacations throughout the
western US. These 3000-mile journeys were frequently punctuated by
stops to read historical markers and, of course, take pictures. I’ve
worked as a chemist, in manufacturing, and in the software industry
developing new products and markets. One too many corporate
acquisitions led me to start my own business doing something for which
I have a passion - photography. I started TaylorView® Photography in
2005 and completed the Rocky Mountain School of Photography Summer
Intensive Course that same year.
My photographic vision is about analyzing, deconstructing, and
recomposing images – trying to figure out why something is
breathtakingly beautiful, intriguingly complex, or just downright
weird. I try to understand and de-compose the many elements and layers,
focusing on the key elements to capture the spirit of that place in
time: Taylor’s view of the moment. That vision inspired the name,
TaylorView® Photography.
I currently live in Fernandina Beach, Florida, having lived throughout
the US and having traveled various places around the world. Moving and
exploring have influenced my worldview, and travel photography has
evolved as one of my favorite genres.

Equipment My
work is done with a 35 mm SLR digital camera, but I still also use a 35
mm film camera and a 4x5 large format film camera on occasion. I
convert my film images to digital format and then print from the
digital files. My quest is always for the perfect image capture - the
less time I spend in front of my computer, or formerly in the darkroom,
and more time out in the field, the more fun I have.
